Mr. Bretz joined the Port of Newport after retiring from the U.S. Coast Guard with 21 years of service. His service included capital projects, search-and-rescue team leading and training, and streamlining of operating procedures. Mr. Bretz is a Newport resident, where he lives with his wife and four children. In addition to his experience in the maritime sector, he holds a B.S. in Applied Management from Ohio University.
